Hannibal Missouri, Sept 28, 2020
We traveled from Clinton to Hannibal on Hwy 61 which ended up being a nicer trip than we were expecting being on a back road. But it was a 4 lane highway most of the trip. We try to keep our daily trips to around 100 miles covering 200 miles in a weekend, we don’t’ want Ol’Gerty to get to wore out on our trip. Plus, she is a bear to drive and I need to keep my driver in good shape this is only stop one. We stayed at Mark Twain Cave Campground, very nice people, keep in mind we are doing all this during the Covid Pandemic and Donald Trump is president. So Face masks in public are a priority and the campground are a great place to shelter in place but still be able to get outside. This campground had an awesome Cave that Jessie James himself hid out in, unfortunately we were only here on night and didn’t get a chance to check out the cave before we hit the road again. The site was nice size and had a creek bed behind us but it didn’t have any water it looked like it was a flood water bed.
Now we are BBQ lovers and decided while we were traveling south we would try to get BBQ at every stop and Hannibal did not disappoint. Big Muddy BBQ was the bomb. There spare ribs were so good, definitely a place to hit again if we get back this way.
